Notable Experience
Product Design Lead at Xinova
Focus areas: Network engagement & growth, workflow design, product strategy, design vision, dealing with ambiguity, team leadership
At Xinova, I helped to build a new platform to facilitate innovation, bringing together our network of innovators with our customers needing to innovate.
- Owned the design and UX of network engagement, leading projects like helping members set up a “storefront” profile, onboarding new members, encouraging profile completion, and creating a referral program. Doubled to tripled the percentage of active users with specific profile data points, increasing our knowledge of our members and the expertise they have.
- Designed a complex workflow process for our Xinova platform, approached using systems thinking, breaking down the architecture elements, how things are interconnected, and the mental model in which users approach the system. This solution was designed with scalability in mind, and implemented for lean market validation.
- Led a design team initiative to translate our ambiguous company vision into a design vision and proposal to provide our company a common foundation for discussions.
- As team lead of our product designers, I guide the team to work collaboratively together, ensure the success of individuals and the team, and help oversee the coordination of design efforts across multiple projects. I also help to identify opportunities for our team, working with leadership to help formulate and execute our product vision.

Sr UX Designer at Dell EMC
Focus areas: SaaS, B2B, PaaS, design systems, complex design solutions, hardware and software integration
As part of the Data Protection Cloud group, I designed solutions for cloud data storage and protection hardware and software products.
- Re-established a UX team within the Data Protection Cloud group, and served as lead UX designer, leading the design on a number of projects, as well as managing the UX resources across all of our projects.
- Led the design of a platform that was used among many different data storage and protection product teams and users. Challenges included designing for a very broad user base, with various use cases and needs, and with reuse and standardization in mind. Researched and collaborated with other internal teams to understand how they would be using the platform for their products. Designed the portal UI to provide a seamless and integrated experience for our users, allowing them to monitor their entire solution at a high level, as well as drill down into specific services and products as needed.
- Worked with the team to publish an online design library for teams integrating into the platform. This included building a style guide and collaborating with another designer on creating a pattern library.
- Designed cloud data protection products that were built into the platform, working closely with the product managers and development teams. This included designing a first-time setup flow for deploying the protection product, which involved turning a complex and multi-channel experience into a simplified and easy-to-understand process. This project included a heavy focus on content design to ensure that the directions and explanations were easy to understand and consistent with the messaging and terminology used across other business units.

UX Designer at WDS
Focus areas: Design leadership, B2B, B2C, B2B2C, retail, support, data analysis, multi-channel, desktop, mobile, tablet, recurring research sessions
WDS focused on improving the customer experience of purchasing and owning a mobile phone, through the insights and operations of call centers, retail purchase and support products.
- As sole designer and evangelizer of great UX across the company, I provided design consulting for our product development teams, as well as led the design as an embedded resource.
- Led the design of products in many different spaces including ecommerce, support software and data analytics products, and across multiple channels including retail stores, call centers, online websites, web apps, and mobile Android and iOS. The products spanned both internal and external facing products, B2B, B2C, and B2B2C.
- Integrated continuous user research into our process. This included establishing monthly standing usability tests as a quick and dirty means of getting user feedback on a regular basis. Frequent research and design testing was also undertaken in the call centers, in keeping with our Agile development process. I also led a generative research initiative that utilized ethnographic observation and interviews of retail associates within stores selling mobile device products, visiting 17 stores across 3 markets, and interviewing 26 retail associates. The results of this research provided the basis for our product roadmap.
- As the only team member located in the U.S., I essentially operated in a remote manner as I worked with product development teams that spanned the globe. I adjusted my process to utilize specific communication methods in order to bridge large time difference and proximity gaps.
- Collaborated closely with all areas of the business. I worked with our multimedia team to create visual designs that were both usable and delightful, and closely with our product managers to understand our users through research and analytics.
